Cannon Films are burned into my nucleotides

Cobra, Missing in Action, Masters of the Universe, Superman IV, and so on. The 80's were weird and so were the movies made during that decade.

Electric Boogaloo is a documentary about the strange cinematic artifact that was Cannon Films.

Deadpool video game gets current gen remake on Xbox One and PS4

This rehash of the original will include all the DLC and such for a reported fifty bones. Not sure if this might be worthwhile or is just a cynical cash in with the movie looming on the horizon.

The cutscenes were fun, and can be viewed on youtube if that's your thing.

'Attack On Titan' Board Game announced

Reposted from ICv2:

Cryptozoic Entertainment will release an Attack on Titan board game, designed by Antoine Bauza and Ludovic Maublanc, in the U.S. in 2016. Bauza and Maublanc have collaborated on Asmodee’s Rampage, but also have extensive individual design credits. Bauza is probably best known for Kennerspiel des Jahres winner 7 Wonders and Spiel des Jahres winner Hanabi. Maublanc’s Cash ‘n’ Guns (from Asmodee) was nominated for an Origins Award this year.
A new mechanic is introduced in the game, in which the Titan piece (played by one player) is a vertical element and the hero game pieces (played by the other players) climb it to try to take it down. The game will be produced via a collaboration between Cryptozoic and France-based Don’t Panic Games. Don’t Panic was formed in 2013 and is producing its first tabletop board game, Drakerys, which was funded last summer via Kickstarter ($180,318 from 758 backers).
The game is being demoed at Anime Expo in Los Angeles and Japan Expo in Paris, both this weekend.

WotC's upcoming Temple of Elemental Evil storyline for D&D 5e

WotC has announced the new storyline event for Temple of Elemental Evil.

There's a board game, there's minis, the whole nine.
January 20, 2015 – Renton, WA – Today, Wizards of the Coast announced the newest Dungeons & Dragons storyline and accompanying product offerings for both digital and tabletop RPG players. Coming off of the biggest and most exciting year yet for Dungeons & Dragons, the Elemental Evil storyline starts in March and runs through mid-summer. During that time, heroes are needed in the Forgotten Realms to discover and defeat secret cults that threaten to annihilate the Sword Coast by harnessing the powers of the elements of fire, water, air, and earth.
The product line-up includes the release of a new downloadable module—Neverwinter: Elemental Evil—for the highly acclaimed free-to-play Dungeons & Dragons MMORPG from Cryptic Studios and Perfect World Entertainment. Serving as an additional way for fans to experience the storyline, Neverwinter: Elemental Evil brings a new playable class—the Paladin—and increases the game’s level cap to 70. Neverwinter is set in the Forgotten Realms, and the new expansion launches in early 2015. Cryptic also recently announced Neverwinter on Xbox One will be available in early 2015 as well.
Characters in the D&D tabletop roleplaying game can help prevent devastation to the lands and people of the Forgotten Realms in the Princes of the Apocalypse adventure by Wizards of the Coast and Sasquatch Game Studio. Princes of the Apocalypse is available on April 7, 2015 and includes an epic adventure for characters levels 1–15 as well as new elemental spells and the element-touched genasi as a new playable race. In addition, a free download will be available in mid-March that includes more new races plus the player content available in Princes of the Apocalypse, just in time for the start of the Elemental Evil season of the D&D Adventurers League.
Other products tied into the Elemental Evil storyline include the Temple of Elemental Evil Adventure System Board Game and pre-painted collectible miniatures, both from WizKids Games. WizKids has also partnered with Perfect World Entertainment to bundle in-game items for Neverwinter with the Temple of Elemental Evil Adventure System Board Game and miniatures boosters. Rounding out the tabletop RPG game products is Gale Force Nine’s new Dungeon Master’s screen featuring Elemental Evil art, as well as unpainted, resin miniatures that tie into the adventure, all slated to release beginning in March.

If you're curious what the big deal is about the Temple of Elemental Evil you might wanna check out the retrospective from the Grognardia blog from 2009.  It's a storied megadungeon from the Gary Gygax, one of the creators of D&D, and it's roots run deep into the could-have-beens of early development on the game. Just by mentioning Hommlett in a game I recently ran caused talk of the Temple even though I had no intention of introducing it into the game.

Attack on Titan for Weiss Schwarz announced!

Singapore (January 16, 2015) – Bushiroad announces the addition of hit anime series “Attack on Titan” to its lineup of anime titles in its popular trading card game Weiss Schwarz during the Chaos Festival held at Akihabara UDX from December 28, 2014 to December 30, 2014.

“Attack on Titan” is slated for release in the English Edition and Japanese Edition Weiss Schwarz in the middle of 2015 and will be available as a trial deck as well as in a booster pack. The English Edition will also precede the Japanese Edition, making it the first title to be available in the English Edition Weiss Schwarz before its Japanese counterpart.

“Attack on Titan” started as a manga published by Kodansha in the Bessatsu Shounen Magazine in Japan, and received an anime adaptation in 2013 that brought it mainstream popularity and critical acclaim. Kodansha credited the series for its first revenue increase in 18 years. The first 10 volumes of the manga sold out after the airing of the anime in Japan. The series has also spawned numerous spinoff light novels, manga and short stories, video games, as well as two anime film adaptations and two live-action films. The first season of the anime concluded in September 2013, and a new season will air in 2016 in Japan. As of November 2014, more than 40 million copies of the Japanese manga are in print.

Attack on Titan synopsis from FUNimation: When the man-eating giants called Titans first appeared, humans retreated behind massive walls. After a hundred years of safety, a colossal-sized Titan smashes through the defenses, unleashing a flood of giants and carnage in the streets. Eren Jaeger watches helplessly as one of the creatures devours his mother.

He vows to kill every Titan walking the earth.

Eren and his surviving friends enlist to fight against the insatiable monsters. The future looks bleak, but there’s more to Eren than meets the eye: he may be humanity’s last hope against extinction.

About Weiss Schwarz Weiss Schwarz is a popular card gaming system in Japan, and features various licensed anime characters, including those from “Puella Magi Madoka Magica” and “Fate/Zero.” Bushiroad began offering organized play support and expanded English product offerings since June 2013.
