'Firefly: Out to the Black' is a quick card game that plays from three to five players. It’s unusual in that the players do not compete against each other, but compete against the game. This is a fairly new style of game called a co-op (cooperative) game. Players take on roles of the crew of the Serenity and play through a series of Events, all based on situations presented on the show. Using their Fightin’, Flyin’, and Thinkin’ skills, they attempt to successfully complete these Events to earn Credits and Honor. If the players run out of Credits or Honor before the end of the game, they all lose and the game wins! If the players manage to complete the predetermined amount of Events without running out of Credits or Honor, they win the game, and live to fly another day!

Twelve Pounds of ... OGRE!

So there's going to be a 6th edition of Steve Jackson's OGRE. All in a giant box of chipboard counters, rules sheets and so forth, nearly 12 pounds in all.

Here's what SJ has to say about it:

It won’t be “Euro” style. No meeples, no plastic. This will be the kind of hex wargame that we dreamed about 30 years ago, back when our heroes were SPI and Avalon Hill. HUGE double-sided map boards. HUGE full-color counters with HUGE type. A HUGE box to hold them in. And giant constructible Ogres!

Godzilla: Kaiju World Wars

Toy Vault has released new details about the upcoming Godzilla:  Kaiju World Wars, its new  boardgame designed by veteran game creator Richard H. Berg.

The game will feature four of the films’ most popular monsters:  Rodan, Gigan, King Ghidorah, and Godzilla in a last-monster-standing brawl.  Multiple scenarios are included, inviting monsters to battle over variable terrain while they destroy buildings and more in their path. The monsters must also deal with aggressive military units, bombs, and traps.

Godzilla:  Kaiju World War will include four fully-painted 2-3/8” plastic figures of the monsters, 90 stackable plastic tiles for creating skyscrapers, individual monster playmates, as well as terrain and power tokens.  It is designed to play in an hour or less.

Gaming Order in Today!

Along with all the new comics we got a gaming order in! 

We've got a restock on Dominion, along with the Intrigue and Alchemy expansions.

You are a monarch, like your parents before you, a ruler of a small pleasant kingdom of rivers and evergreens. Unlike your parents, however, you have hopes and dreams! You want a bigger and more pleasant kingdom, with more rivers and a wider variety of trees. You want a Dominion!  In all directions lie fiefs, freeholds, and feodums. All are small bits of land, controlled by petty lords and verging on anarchy. You will bring civilization to these people, uniting them under your banner. 

But wait! It must be something in the air; several other monarchs have had the exact same idea. You must race to get as much of the unclaimed land as possible, fending them off along the way. To do this you will hire minions, construct buildings, spruce up your castle, and fill the coffers of your treasury. Your parents wouldn’t be proud, but your grandparents, would be delighted.

We also received a restock on Magic the Gathering boosters, including Scars of Mirrodin, 2011, Eldrazi, Zendikar, and Shards of Alara. 

We've restocked Yu-Gi-Oh-sized card sleeves, and some regular-sized card sleeves. And have a bunch of Heroclix back in including Web of Spider-Man, Secret Invasion, Avengers, Justice Leauge, Arkham Asylum and Brave and the Bold.

In Board Games we have Ticket to Ride and some expansions, Wits & Wagers, Dominion, and the new Heroscape Expansion. And we have the new Duel Decks for Magic the Gathering, Phyrexia vs. The Coalition.
